​Full time Solar Hot Water Technician $25-$35 per hour depending on experience

Would you like to put your problem-solving, troubleshooting skills towards reducing our collective carbon footprint? Come join our team at Spartan Solar, a small, locally-owned business that has been servicing and installing solar hot water systems throughout western Massachusetts since 2014. Applicants don’t need to have experience with solar hot water, but should have at least two years relevant experience (see below for examples).

The ideal candidate will have:

• Aptitude for practical problem-solving.
• Attention to detail.
• Interest in sustainability and carbon-saving technologies.
• Courteous manner with customers.

Work responsibilities:

• Install and service domestic solar hot water systems as part of a small team.
• Soldering copper pipe runs and other plumbing components.
• Moving domestic hot water tanks, often into and out of basements.
• Installing solar heat collector panels, typically on roofs, using ladders and sometimes an electric panel lift.
• Installing, setting up, and troubleshooting electronic controllers and sensors.
• Using a smartphone to keep track of time, parts used, system observations, and work completed while on a job.
• Maintain a safe work environment by wearing appropriate safety gear and communicating actively with coworkers about safety issues.

Minimum requirements:

• Able to lift 60 pounds
• Comfortable working on ladders and roofs at height
• Clean driving record

Relevant work experience could include, but is not limited to:

• Mechanics
• HVAC service and installation
• Plumbing / Piping
• Solar electric (PV) installation
• Trouble shooting technical problems
• Carpentry

Offering flexible work schedule and PTO. Health insurance not included. Compensation includes employer contributions to Simple IRA and clothing allowance.
